Remembering Nique
This Foundation was created in Memory of our Dominique. Our Loving Son, Friend and Brother.
What We Do.
Dominique would want others to learn and benefit from his life experiences;
the good and the not so good. He would want us to help the individuals,
their families and friends cope with the challenges
of living with mental illness.
We want you to know "Recovery Is Possible!"It is in that spirit that we
established the Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation (DFMF).
Dominique loved helping people. We know he would
want us to do good works in his name.
The Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation will:
-
Support the DFMF scholarship at Detroit Catholic Central High School.
-
Raise funds, awareness and access to resources that support individuals and families living with mental illness.
-
Fund and execute community service projects.
-
Host a variety of "FUN" fundraising events.
Our Mission
To eliminate the STIGMA of mental illness in every community, especially in communities of color.
To provide access to educational resources and support to individuals and the families of those living with mental illness. To support local support organizations dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families living with mental illnesses, suicide prevention, parents who have lost children and more.
TO PROVIDE HOPE!
Born in Michigan
January 1, 1987
Dominique Alexander Fischer was a beautiful young man who loved life, family, people and most importantly God.
He was the "All-American Kid" who excelled at baseball, basketball and football at his beloved Detroit Catholic Central High School. Dominique's signature smile captured our hearts, while allowing us to see the beauty of his heart. His future appeared to be very bright until November of 2007, at age 20 when he was diagnosed with bi-polar & schizophrenia disorders.
On June 27, 2010, at 23 years old, we lost Dominique to suicide.
